Petite France (쁘띠 프랑스)

A couple of weeks ago, I visited a cute little attraction called Petite France (쁘띠 프랑스). I was only able to go because my friend took me there one weekend. I would never have known about it if she never took me.

Petite France is located in Gapyeong (가평) and it is built into the mountains, overlooking the Cheongpyeong river/lake. From Gangneung, it takes around 2 hours to get there by car depending on traffic. It took us around 3 hours due to road works. It takes a much shorter time if you are going from Seoul. There are also bus tours which take you there.

The scenery looked almost like Scotland on a really good day. The mountains were green and overlooking the beautiful water mass. In Scotland this would most likely be a loch. It was quite serene.

It's really small but it took us around 2 hours to walk around because we were taking photos and selfies. The buildings were colourful, and painted in pastel colours. They had buildings you could go into. Some had performances. We watched a puppet show, where they made the puppets dance. It was good, but the guys controlling the puppets could have at least smiled a little.

There was a mini Eiffel Tower which was pretty cool. A lot of the attractions were based on The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince). They love the story here. There were also French antiques and a model of an old French house.

The snack bars, stalls weren't too great. They sold coffee which was good. Other snacks included tteokbokki, odeng, pizza slices and wedges. The wedges were a crazy price. Around 3000W for 6 wedges. We opted to eat out of the attraction, as there were some restaurants close by.

Opening times are 9am-6pm, but they open later depending on the season. It costs 8000W for adults and 5000W for kids.

It's worth going to if you are in the area. There is another tourist attraction close by called Nami Island.
