day 13- your 5 favorite books and why
1-Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
I like the way how Steinbeck contrasts George and Lennie, they're both totally different people yet George treats Lennie as if he were a younger brother. Which technically he is because his mind is like a child. He's basically his best friend. Lennie is innocent in the mind, but the things he does makes others think otherwise. He doesn't mean harm but causes it without thinking. I love the dream that the two of them share in the book, about a farm where Lennie can "tend" to the rabbits.
This book, gets me going each time I read it. I won't ever get tired of it.
2- The Northern Lights by Philip Pullman
I think it's the best adventure/fancy book. It's hard to give a reason for this one, but I love it, other than Harry Potter, it was one of the first books I read start to finish in a few days!
3- The Time Travelers Wife
Sweet romance :) beautiful book!
4-The lovely Bones
Not sure why I like this one so much. I thought it was creepy. But good creepy!
5-Falling Leaves/Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah
Heh. Well I'm Chinese. So it kind of hits me a little bit. I remember reading the child version when I was young called Chinese Cinderella and the dragon society :).
